Client Review by “Ron and Marissa”
Pennsylvania (2023)
My husband is a 100% service-connected and care dependent disabled Marines Corps veteran with two Purple Hearts and stage 3 colon cancer. After Russia invaded Ukraine, out of the goodness of our hearts, my husband and I sponsored a Ukrainian national for the Uniting for Ukraine program. Unfortunately, this decision led to our own humanitarian crisis.
After arriving in the United States, the Ukrainian national began mentally and financially abusing us, even demanding cash payments and refusing to leave our home. She claimed we had to pay her and provide free lodging on the basis of an affidavit of support. This caused severe stress and additional health problems for my husband and me, including an emergency room visit. We eventually fled our home, incurred the additional cost of a separate apartment while on a fixed income, and were forced to sue the Ukrainian in state court to repossess our own house.
We were desperate for help. We wrongly assumed that someone from the government would step-in and protect us. Unfortunately, nobody lifted a finger, until we found Codias Law. Their website was the only place we found that provided useful information and context for victims of immigration fraud. Attorney Cody M. Brown helped us immediately understand what was happening, why it was happening, and what we could do about it.
Attorney Brown worked collaboratively with our local attorney to prepare the legal research and analysis related to the federal immigration issues. His exceptional legal skills helped us secure a court order defeating two contract-based claims based on the federal affidavit of support.
As importantly, Attorney Brown treated us like people, not merely legal clients. He genuinely cared about our well-being. He was interested in hearing every detail, and always responded promptly to our communications. He was professional, honest, efficient, courteous, and has excellent manners. It was very comfortable communicating with Attorney Brown. We always felt like we were in good hands. We wish there were more attorneys and people in this world like Mr. Brown.
